About the AAIA
The
Alabama Aerospace Industry
Association (AAIA) was formed in 2003 to provide a unified voice in the
state on issues of mutual interest, especially education, workforce
development and economic development. Some of the activities include:
-
Promote interaction among aerospace/aviation and defense industries in Alabama
-
Conduct activities and programs so members can share information and
become better informed on manufacturing, management and government issues
that significantly impact the industry.
-
Sponsor seminars, workshops and plant tours and disseminate information
on advances in technology and continuous improvement.
In 2003, OED executed an intense study of
the aerospace industry and discovered 99% of aerospace jobs to be in
five major regions in Alabama. The aerospace industry employs over 139,000,
putting $6.16B into the pockets of employees.
