SBDC
provides assistance to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. Small
business owners or managers can receive professional assistance and
direction in any of the following areas: financial capital, business
planning, personnel, record keeping, licensing, taxes, intellectual
property, government procurement, government regulations, marketing,
commercialization, small business innovation and research programs, market
research, inventory control or how to conduct a feasibility study.
Utilization of Industry Clusters
Use industry clusters as a tool in assisting
new and existing business understand the market size and business base.
Provide Entrepreneurial
Support to Start-ups
Assist start-up companies in developing their ideas into actual business
opportunities by providing advertising and promotion, business planning,
cash flow analysis, inventory control, logistical start-up steps, marketing
research, personnel planning and sources of financing.
Maintain and Utilize
Industry Association and Databases
Help stimulate symbiotic relationships for a strong network of support for
both start-up and mature companies. Provide state policy makers, economic
developers and clients with the information they need to encourage and
maintain industry growth.
Government Contracting
Assistance
Assist in the development and certification of small companies that want to
engage in business with the government at the federal and state level. Offer
a variety of procurement services such as marketing, research and bid
preparation. Attend seminars to gain contract bid information and make
government contacts.
Work with Area Chambers to
Support Business Development
Counsel and train existing business in the seven-county region.
Organize Seminars and
Conduct Training
Sponsor 40 seminars in 2003-2004 on a variety of topics ranging from taxes,
public speaking and lean manufacturing workshops to seminars on how to start
a new business and how to be an effective leader.
